Private Label Supplement Custom Formulas – What you need to know

At Private Label Supplement, we offer every possible option to meet and exceed our Clients’ needs. It’s just what we do. Our commitment to consistently deliver top quality private label products and making our Clients vision a reality. Clients always come to me and ask me, “Stefani, I want to make a unique product that’s never been done before. Is this something you can help me with?” This is one of my favorite questions to answer because as a Private Label industry veteran, I know most manufacturers don’t offer custom formulas. I just love seeing my Clients eyes light up when I say; “We can definitely help you with a Custom Formula. This process is going to be all about you.”

Private Label Custom Formulas are such an important part of unique and niche product lines. We have collaborated with Clients on countless capsule, powder, liquid, soft chews, soft gel, and tablet Custom Formulas. The best part about this process is that we allow you to use a variety of ingredients for your vision that 1) don’t skimp on quality and 2) will fulfill all your business needs.

Here are three helpful tips my Sales Team and I like to give our Clients before they get started with their Custom Formulas at Private Label Supplement.

1. You Can Make any Custom Formula You Can Think Of

There is no end to the formulas you can create with Private Label Supplement. You can be as creative as you want to be. I said it once, and I’ll gladly say it again, this process is all about you. How could you say no to making your dream product come true?

Private Label Custom Formulas allow you to offer a product your competitors can’t in powder, capsule, liquid, soft chew, soft gel or tablet form. All you have to do is present your creative concept after working with a chemist, pharmacist, or even a veterinarian and Private Label Supplement will help make it yours. We always put quality and health first and make sure that we meet your expectations in every way and exceed the Good Manufacturing Program (GMP) guidelines. I’ll let you on this tidbit of information when it comes to marketing Skincare Products. I’ve seen many Skincare Products out there make claims and promises that are a big no-no in the eyes of the FDA so it’s important that you don’t let your promises go too far. The FDA warns Skincare and Cosmetics companies when they make claims and promises that potentially classify their products as drugs instead of cosmetics. Let me teach you a little something about marketing and Skincare Products. If Skincare and Cosmetics companies are making definitive claims such as:

  • Can treat diseases such as Acne, Eczema or Rosacea
  • Can increase Collagen
  • Can revive aging cells

This is the type language you need to look out for. These claims are how you get the FDA knocking on your door and no one wants that.

Generally safe claims for Cosmetics and Skincare Products are:

  • Cleanses skin
  • Enhances beauty
  • Promotes attractiveness
  • Alters appearance

To be even safer, I tell my Clients this rule of thumb: “If your Skincare Product is intended to cleanse or beautify these are generally regulated as Cosmetics. If the product is intended to treat or prevent disease or affect the structure or function of the body, these are generally regulated as drugs. Cleanse and beautify = Cosmetics. Treat or prevent disease = drugs.” Some products are both cosmetics and drugs so it’s important to know what avenue you want to go with your Skincare and Cosmetics products and get your marketing and labels as accurately as possible to avoid any future trouble. I have to let my Clients know this because I want them to do things right the right way and be successful. If I didn’t it would be a complete disservice. I’ll touch on this subject in more detail in point number three because I can’t stress enough how important it is.

2. You Can Target a Specific Demographic

Another amazing thing we do for our Clients at Private Label Supplement is that we tailor your products and strategies for a certain market of Customers you wouldn’t have thought you’d be able to win over otherwise. We love opening new possibilities for our Clients. I love using Skincare Products as an example because when most people think of Skincare, it might seem like a realm predominantly for women, but let me tell you, men love taking care of their skin – maybe even as much as women. In my experience, men maintain a solid demand for Skincare products, and they are not so set in traditional choices like they used to be. Private Label Men’s Shaving Cream focuses on simplicity and the benefits of its key ingredient, Shea Butter, which is often thought of as “girly.” And it all comes back to marketing at this point. If you know how to talk and relate to your Customer base and you have a product that backs it up, the possibilities for success are endless.

3. It Matters if Your Formula Is a Cosmetic, Drug, or Both

I promised I’d talk more about Skincare Product claims so let’s get right down to it. Let me simplify this complicated legal jargon for you. In a nutshell, Skincare products are coming under the microscope with regards to Customers’ concerns about safety, health and quality control, as it should be. All of our Private Label Supplement Custom Formulas follow GMP Guidelines set by the FDA, while our Skincare products’ claims follow classification as a Cosmetic. We conduct third-party audits with the manufacturers and give you Quality Agreements. It’s quite a daunting process, but that’s why we deal with all the complicated parts, so you don’t have to. It all comes down to transparency. Transparency, transparency, transparency. If you don’t have transparency in this line of business, you could be facing a slew of problems before you even start. We always have our Clients’ backs and that’s why we keep you in the loop every step of the way in the Manufacturing process.

If you’re not going to do it all the way right in the first place, why do it at all right? All Skincare products must start out as Cosmetics because they intend to cleanse or beautify the skin and are usually applied topically. But if any are meant to treat or prevent disease or change the skin’s structure, then they are Drugs, which are usually consumed. It can take about 10 years for most Drugs to go from initial formulation to FDA approval and into the market — a tedious process for a safe, healthy product whose nutritional benefits you want to focus on before the market loses steam.

Some Skincare products are, surprisingly, both Cosmetics and Drugs and this is where things can get a little tricky. Dietary supplements with health benefits are actually non-conventional Foods with strict prohibitions against adultering or misbranding them. But whether you market a product in the Dietary Supplement or Skincare industry, it’s important to know what claims you can make on your Private Label Custom Formula. Our Third Party Marketing Claim Testing tells you exactly what you can and can’t say on your product labels. Again, we have your back.
