Dr. Oz recommends 800mg of GLA to target belly fat reduction. It is important to note that GLA is derived from Borage Oil (also from Black Currant Oil, Evening Primrose Oil, and Safflower), and to achieve the recommended daily intake of 800mg you would adjust your product usage to 3-4 softgels per day. This is not an unhealthy option. Another option for women is to take our Evening Primrose Oil 1000mg at night as it has a calming effect, and in our formula you will find a combination of 820mg of mixed Linoleic Acid/GLA. Linoleic Acid converts to GLA in healthy people (non-obese) so this is a great solution. Our recommendation is to use both, especially with the lengthy benefits of Borage Oil on its own; taking three (3) softgels of Borage Oil + GLA 1000 mg and one (1) Evening Primrose Oil 1000mg softgel at bedtime to maximize the effect Dr. Oz is speaking to.
Gamma Linolenic Acid (GLA) is an Omega 6. Although Omega 3’s are known for their anti-inflammatory properties and generally Omega 6’s increase inflammation, GLA does not fall into this category. GLA is an anti-inflammatory which provides many additional health benefits beyond targeting belly fat reduction. Click on the link below to learn more. Our CEO, Stefani Thionnet, has always been personally fond of Borage Oil + GLA 1000 mg and has included it in her daily supplement regimen for years. There are so many health benefits beyond weight loss that also include skin health and that is just the beginning. She is thrilled Dr. Oz has targeted attention toward GLA as she has personally experienced many health benefits from this supplement.
If you are not quite committed to the full 1000mg a day of GLA, and are looking for possibly the most potent preventative and treatment oriented overall health benefits, there is another smart option. Private Label Supplement also offers Omega 3-6-9. Omega 3-6-9 is universally known as the “aspirin” of fish oils and when you view its benefits, you will see why.
When viewing the Supplement Facts you will also see these products offers both GLA and LA which will lead you back to Dr. Oz’s conversation on targeting belly fat.
All my best,
Stefani Thionnet
