It’s getting hot in here but don’t take your clothes off…yet!

CapsicumBite into a chili pepper and wow, get bitten back!  That hot bite comes from the capsaicin in the pepper.  Have you ever been at a restaurant and bitten into a chili pepper and the next thing you know your mouth is on fire, cheeks are red, your nose is running, and you feel like someone turned the heat way up?  Some people’s reactions are more severe to the heat of chili peppers; they literally break out into a sweat.  Or, let’s say you’re cooking in the kitchen and you chop up a jalapeno and then happen to put your finger in your mouth or your eye.  The burning sensation yikes!  Not all peppers are created equal though.  Some peppers have little to no heat while others rank very high on the Scoville scale.  Chili peppers are spicy while the milder green and red peppers are sweet.  One thing they all do have in common is Capsicum which is considered the fruit of the pepper.  Capsicum speeds up the metabolism, and has thermogenic properties which help to reduce the appetite.  Grab some Capsicum and crank up the fat burning.  Heat up your muscles with some good old fashioned exercise and heat up your digestive system with some Capsicum.  Then when it gets hot in here, you can be the judge of what to do next!
