Supplementing Nutrition: 5 Essential Nutrients Consumers Need But Might Not Get from Diet Alone

We all know that the best way to stay healthy is to eat a proper, balanced diet. Unfortunately in today’s world, few Consumers have the time, money, or energy to actually research, purchase, and prepare the foods that will satisfy all of their nutritional needs. Some people would not suspect that they are not getting all of their essential nutrients, and thus never even realize that they might be suffering from nutritional deficiencies.

Luckily for Consumers, supplements can fill the gaps in their nutrition. So what are the essential nutrients Consumers need? Why are these nutrients important? Here are five supplements that will help your Consumers stay healthy–and that have helped our Clients sell out their product lines.

Vitamin D: Vitamin D is one of the basics you learned about in elementary school. Growing kids need plenty of dairy and sunshine to get the required amounts of Vitamin D, and adults are no different. We often see supplements that combine Vitamin D with Calcium, but why? Most people do not know this, but the human body needs Vitamin D to absorb Calcium. Vitamin D cannot easily be acquired solely through diet: there are only a few truly rich sources (fortified dairy products and notably oily fish). Supplements are the way to go. We offer Vitamin D in many forms. This essential nutrient is part of several different combined supplement formulas, but also in its own separate supplements. You can order Vitamin D Soft Gels in strengths of 1000 IU, 2000 IU, 5000 IU, and 10,000 IU.

Vitamin B-9 (Folate): Vitamin B-9 is sometimes called Folate or Folic Acid. B-9 is crucial for a healthy pregnancy, but everyone needs this essential nutrient. B-9 is involved in production of both red blood cells and DNA. Consumers can get Vitamin B-9 in several of our combination formulas, including Sport B + Complex and Super B. We also offer Folic Acid 800 mcg Tablets.

Omega−3 Fatty Acids: Omega-3 Fatty Acids are key to a healthy heart, specifically the marine fatty acids DHA and EPA. This essential nutrient has been scientifically proven to improve and maintain cardiac health. High doses of Omega-3 can also reduce levels of triglycerides. People who eat fish twice a week or more might not need an Omega-3 supplement, but individuals who eat less (or no) fish need supplements to get the benefits of Omega-3. Consumers can get their required Omega-3 Fatty Acids in several of our supplements, including Fish Oil 1200 mg (Standard 360 mg of Omega-3) and Enteric-Coated Fish Oil 1400 mg Triple Strength (Standard 980 mg of Omega-3, which contains 647 mg EPA and 253 mg DHA).

Vitamin B-12 (Cobalamin): Vitamin B-12 is also known as Cobalamin and Cyanocobalamin. Vitamin B-12 is involved in myelin production, and thus plays a critical role in functionality of the brain and the nervous system. This B Vitamin is so crucial to good health that even a slight deficiency could potentially cause lasting damage. As with Vitamin D, it is difficult for many people to acquire enough Vitamin B-12 through diet alone. B-12 is only found in animal products, so vegans, vegetarians, and even people who simply do not eat a lot of meat products are at risk of deficiencies. The elderly might not be able to break down and absorb Vitamin B-12, so they are also at risk of deficiencies. Vitamin B-12 is found in many of our multivitamin formulas, including B-Complex with B-12. Consumers can also get this essential nutrient from our B-12 500 mcg Tablet.

Fiber: Everyone needs more fiber. While it is essential to regulating the digestive system, diets high in Fiber are simply a good idea. High fiber diets benefit conditions ranging from heart disease to hernias. Consumers could conceivably get adequate Fiber from diet alone, but today’s diet and food choices still make doing so difficult. Many of our Cleanses offer Fiber, but a great source is our Psyllium Husk 1000 mg Capsule. This supplement is a convenient way to ingest Fiber, and Psyllium has been shown to lower cholesterol.

These supplements are necessary for optimal nutrition. Our Clients have often leveraged the utilitarian angle into orders and reorders. These fit into any existing product line–and are a great reason to add a new one.
