Gamma Linolenic Acid (GLA) is a natural substance found in a number of plants. Borage Oil, in fact, contains GLA and, as the name suggests, is the derived from the Borago officinalis, also known as the starflower – an herb native to the Mediterranean with beautiful blue, white and sometimes pink flowers. For centuries the plant has been used in traditional medicine and Borage Seed Oil has been shown to contain one of the highest amounts of Gamma Linolenic Acid in comparison to other plants. This supplement contains additional GLA from other plant sources.The benefits of Gamma Linolenic Acid, also known as an omega-6 fatty acid, include anti-inflammatory and anti-thrombotic effects, and it is also helpful in the treatment of gastrointestinal and cardiovascular diseases. The substance is also used to regulate the metabolism and is therefore sought by people looking for effective weight-loss solutions.

It is important to note that GLA is derived from Borage Oil (also from Black Currant Oil, Evening Primrose Oil and Safflower) and to achieve the recommended daily intake of 800mg you would adjust your product usage to 3-4 softgels per day. This is not an unhealthy option.
